The theme of the site uses the torosaurus, and the late ceratopsians, horned dinosaurs of the Cretacious period [...] Aside from the play on words (the thesaurus always sounded like a dinosaur) such imagery seems an apt metaphor for our project – the uncovering of the vast body of forgotten rhetorical lore, especially those aspects which go back to antiquity, is like the archaeological discovery of some vast, extinct species, and the ongoing work of classification resembles taxonomic and genealogical classification in the natural history, where also the truly ancient casts a light on the present.


Cretaceous

The Cretaceous Theme is intended to blend ease of familiarity with a sense of the exotic. The Cretaceous was a period of temperate seasons and flowering plants, yet also of sensational animals. 

Jurassic

The Jurassic Theme is intended to express the range and vitality of Jurassic life. It was a lush, tropical period characterised by impressive gigantism on land and sea: a prehistoric Eden.

Triassic

The Triassic Theme expresses the concept of vigorous new beginnings and initiatives. After the mass extinctions at the end of the Permian, the preceding period, the Triassic represented a dynamic Renaissance in the saga of life.
